Mining Manufacturing in Canada
A mine does not stop politely. When a crusher liner, a pump housing, or a mill component lets go, production stops with it, which is why so much Canadian machining capacity is built around durability and turnaround rather than delicacy. The scale behind that demand is real: in 2024 Canada produced over 60 minerals and metals worth $64.3 billion1, from Sudbury nickel to Saskatchewan potash to the northern gold camps.
The parts run large and heavy. Shafts, liners, housings, and wear components in carbon and alloy steels, frequently hardfaced or heat treated, welded to code and cut on large-envelope equipment. Many are replacements for machinery older than its own drawings, so reverse engineering from a worn original is routine work here rather than a special request.
